The oil pastel art is approximately 2ft x 4ft and made on a dead tree trunk. I enjoy when canvas and medium interact with the ambient light. In the case of the tree hugger, the varying sunlight has an enchanting way of casting shadows onto the rugged surface of the wood. Depending on the time of day you choose to witness the art, the experience will vary. Not only did this artwork become a statement that I survived winter and four years in Quebec city, but this self-portrait became my farewell love letter to Quebec and a polaroid of my state of mind.
